I'm going to keep my Pheidole journal going, plus tabs on my Nylanderia. I wish more of the old timers would come on here like they used to. What can you do?  \_('-')_/

And I will keep my Pogonomyrmex journal going as well, although I may just hibernate them for a month or two in December and January just to give 'em a break. But before that I'll keep updating.

Also, should this conversation be moved to a different thread? This is sort of a journal.

I'm fine, anyway the acrobats are doing good, the new Aphnogaster queen is doing okay, and that is pretty much it. :|  :|  :|

Last year my Pogonomyrmex got 2 weeks of hibernation. I'll give mine 3 weeks this year, just cause.

i wish to impart some of my wisdom about beginning ant keeping. i have finally figured out what caused me to loose so many colonies when i was a beginner. the key is water. you NEED to get the water towers from tarheelants https://tarheelants....l-liquid-feeder

i recommend those. ants are constantly on mine, showing me how much they rely on the water. i lost many a colony to dehydration as well. this will stop the dying by a lot. that is my advice.

Queen Persephone has stopped eating so I can tell she is preparing for hibernation, I tried introducing some adult workers to one of my pavement ant colonies and.... it did not go well, and my other colony is doing good, the Crematogasters still have two workers, the Aphenogaster queen is doing good, and the other pavement ant colony is doing okay. Special update: the Hydnophytum Puffi has flowers that will soon bloom.

hopefully the last 2 workers of the crematogaster don't die in hibernation. that happened with my formica.

but the colony probably had more workers underground. I hope she didn't run out of the wing muscle stores.

Wait are you in Colorado or Canada? How did you buy a Lasius queen from him when he is in Canada? Unless he moved there or something.

that's what I was saying, Antkeeper01 stated he was in Colorado..If he bought them from Canada that would be illegal.

Not meaning to be 'antkeeping police' but I'm confused, Antkeeper01 could you clear things up?

Yep that’s illegal if it is being shipped from Canada. But would they even ship to him if he is in Colorado? It would be different if it was Pogonomyrmex, but Lasius? A species that just flew last month? And buying it illegally?

Uhh, yeah that's illegal. You should cancel the order, and tell them to send it back. If they catch you that could lead to serious trouble.

This is confusing, so your saying that I should cancel order, even though if you go to Formiculture home page and look at the market place below the termite sub forum right below the ByFormica market place it is there; on the Formiculture home page.
