For anyone interested, I put together a playlist of all the Pogonomyrmex updates a few months ago, as well as some others. The older videos are not very good, but I suppose that's fine for now.

Update; 4/20/20

 

Trachymyrmex septentrionalis; Colony #1

----------------------------------------

They have been really busy with growing the fungus, which is now about 0.5 inches in diameter now. The queen seems to have laid a small clutch of eggs as well, so that's great!

 

 

Camponotus chromaiodes; Colony #1

Up to around 600 or so workers, with a metric ton of brood, about 500 in total. That is mostly pupae and larvae. Two new "supermajors" have eclosed this week, bringing the total "supermajor" count up to 6 or 7. The largest is pushing 15 millimeters, which is impressive even for C. chromaiodes!

 

 

Camponotus subbarbatus; Colony #1

These beauties are up to 37 workers now, with a single major and 20 or so larvae and pupae. The queen has been laying some new eggs recently, and their appetite has slightly increased. Most likely in response to the increased egg production.

She most certainly is! I have a Camponotus pennsylvanicus queen with some eggs and 3 boosted pupae from Freya that is going to need a name, btw. I'm thinking a Norse goddess again. Its a shame my last C. pennsylvanicus colony died last year. They had reached 67 workers in their first season and got several large majors! I believe their death had something to do with the silicone I used for their last nest.

I'm surprised your subbarbatus only have 1 major, mine are at 20-30 and have 3 or so majors.

Still doing great, as always. They're at 800-900 workers now, and I expect alates this year.

I wouldn't expect alates until next year. They may began producing large larvae, but they will be consumed before they reach the pupal stage unless you feed them truckloads of protein. My colony did this last year, and they were at the same population as yours.

Well they did. The Neivamyrmex workers range in size from 3.5 millimeters to just under 8 millimeters, so I guess the minors pulled the Reticulitermes workers out of the galleries.
