2 x Veromessor andrei (Seed-harvester ant) colonies.

19 x Pogonomyrmex subnitidus (Seed-harvester ant) colonies + 3 x Pogonomyrmex (ID uncertain) colonies

16 x Linepithema humile (Argentine ant) colonies.

1 x Unknown Formicidae colony.

1 x Tapinoma sessile (Odorous house ant) colony.

1 x Camponotus fragilis (Carpenter/wood ant) colony + 1 x Camponotus sansabeanus (Carpenter/wood ant) colony.

Yes, this was the rain I've been waiting for. Geez that took forever. Finally have my crap together and some free time. I can think of a few good places already...

Today looks like the first warm day since any of that rain.  Anyone going out? i don't think you can get Covid19 from ants.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies. 

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Looks like Angelus Oaks will only reach 57F on Tuesday, is that warm enough for Camponotus?

I think it needs to get far warmer in the day time. I checked the weather last time they flew, and it was in the 50s at night, and the 80s in the day. I could be wrong though.

Really? Here that's a nice summer's day. Except nights are in the 60s, not 50s.

For flights? No. That's 57F HI. You need to check the lows, especially around sunset.

Doubt it. Probably left over alates from last year. They fly in July/August/September normally.

Probably getting kicked out by the workers. Or I guess there is a possibility they were checking for the right conditions. That photo didn't really show much. Video would be better.

Don't have any footage of them just saw some poke their heads out craw around then go back in. Seems like good conditions to me. Hot and humid.

I thought Pogonomyrmex flew in the summer months. It seems a little early to me.
