https://www.amazon.c...ds=pill bottles

or

https://www.amazon.c...B06ZYBV5K8?th=1

1.) go to amazon.

2.) search the name of any small container.

3.) find one cheap and what you want.

4.) purchase it.

Anyone have any suggestions for what sponges to use for hydration?  I have a natural cellulose sponge underneath my hydrostone, but not sure if there's better/worse types to use.

EDIT: I got one of these and have been cutting off pieces as it's huge:

As per forum rules, shouldn't this topic should be moved to General Ant Keeping ?

All discussion related to formicaria, ant diet & nutrition, captivity conditions, and supplies & materials.

No, because there are materials and equipment used in anting as well as ant keeping, not only ant keeping.

So wanted to let everyone know, I purchased 24 (blue, no clear anymore) Test Tube Foraging Containers and was at first worried, because only had a confirmation email from paypal that order was placed. I tried emailing the sales email provided on site and it doesn't exist, get a bounce back; Phone # keeps ringing. But, after 2 weeks, finally received them via USPS and can say I am very happy with the purchase. Lids are kind loose, but noticed if you rotate them they snap on. Seems great for my Pogonomyrmex californicus so far.

Any other test tube foraging containers you guys use? I use the ones linked in the original post but I can't help wishing they were about half a cm wider and the lids were more secure

I am looking for a small amount of seed blend for my Veromessor colony and founding Pogonomyrmex.

Does anyone have a good contact for a trusted Kentucky bluegrass seed or other mixture besides the one listed here? The seeds in the OP have been out for some time now.

Thanks!

So only $2.68 for 25 test tubes? damn.

I need some tubes the plastic ones I ordered are cloudy, are the lcm ones really 4 or 5 bucks for a 25 pack? How fast do they ship?

I ordered some 18MM x 150MM test tubes from there. They crack a lot easier than other ones I've purchased. Just make sure you don't man-handle them

Then you aren't mixing the rubbing alcohol and baby power right, mix ratio is off, or you're in a really humid area.

Fluon is expensive in general, don't see many sellers online for it. https://www.bioquip....t.asp?pid=2871A

You could try pure talcum powder + rubbing alcohol instead of whatever you are using. Is there a specific brand you are using? Maybe it's a cheap Walmart brand?

Did you guys consider using microfuge tubes for catching queens?  Very compact, and most have attachable cap.  Very cheap at  100 to 500 tubes for under $10.  I don't think they are airtight, but would put a needle-hole at the top just in case.  Can add in tube racks or cases for organization. :)

Also cheaper from Lake Charles (500 pack for $9.56):
