That is her wing remains I believe. Not sure what you mean about low quality, but either way that is all I got so she will stay  :D At least until the first workers arrive, then connect to chamber they can dig a new nest in. That is the idea anyway.

Cheers

i mean that antscanada nest arent very good not to mention they are pricey, but your queen would do better in a traditional testtube setup and that not her wings its probably a kind of fungus you should brood boost her to get workers to remove the fungus

Cool, nice opinions  (y)

Here is I'm my opinion, I don't really care what one random person thinks about them. I have a nest from them and it is great, simple, and very functional. So your opinions are noted, but ultimately irrelevant as reality contradicts them. Then you went on to say "Not to mention" and then you immediatley mention it, which is silly in itself and loses a lot of credibility to your overall opinions, both to which the first part applies.

As for Fungus, We will see what happens with her. All I can say for certain is I will NOT be giving her any brood boost or moving her. But instead I will carry on as she is being productive and seems happy with her home.

Cheers  :D

i literally lost a queen to this exact same nest she was very productive but AC failed me I'm just trying to make sure you don't make the same mistake i did, see this thread for a bunch of people saying that AC nest are pricey and arent very high quality:https://www.formicul...ted-antkeeping/i lost a queen of P.occidentalis to it for more background a THA mini-hearth is much more suited for this queen

That was a complete waste of time. Completley unrelated, someone mentions AC and says they don't like it and that is your big link? Stop wasting your time posting pointless posts. You seem more like a negative wanna be online hero. You losing queens is your own poor doing. a poor worksman blames his tools. You lost your queen because of you, not becuase it was an AC product. That is pettie and ignorant on your part. Like I already said, your opinion is noted but irrelevant to me as reality contradicts everything you say. I bought a nest from AC, from THA, and from AS. All great, so spare me your favortisim justifcations. Just a bunch of BS and not helpful at all.

fine whatever you say i mean its not my queen who may die

Meanwhile, BACK IN REALITY, queen has brought in lots of seeds and has produced more brood. Up to 35-40 eggs now which is great and signs I am doing something right  ;)

All good things  B)

Hey, I wanted to add my opinion.

While AC is not a terrible brand, I would not recommend it for a single queen Pogonomyrmex. Naturally, queens dig small chambers to nest in, and I feel this nest is definitely too big for a single queen. Also, in my experience Pogonomyrmex do better with a little sand in their test tube/nest.
Another possible issue is, as antkeeper01 pointed out, the queen does seem to have fungus on her back. Keep in mind there is a chance this can kill your queen. If you brood boost the queen with pupae/callows (as antkeeper01 suggested) the workers will most likely clean the queen.

In the end, it’s just my advice and you do not need to follow it if you don’t want to. Just trying to help a fellow antkeeper. :)
