I just mean I'm sad I missed out .. I didn't think anyone was flying yet. I've never gone queen hunting yet and I'm super excited to. I would have tried to find some if I had realized lol

Follow this thread, and you’ll know when things are flying. Next up are Camponotus the first days we hit 80 in April or May.

LOL. Imparis fly when the temperature is above 68 degrees Fahrenheit/20 degrees Celsius. In my experience the humidity and wind doesn't matter for them so it is pretty easy predict their flights(just look by the temperature). I will try to keep this thread updated too as ANTdrew said.

Ok ... will the imp not fly again? Or next time there is a warm day should I be looking?

Hottest time of the day which is usually around 2-5pm, just look at the warmest hours on the hour-ed weather forecast. It looks like for tomorrow it will be at 3-5pm.

Are you still teaching from home? They dragged our gasters back in to the building a month ago.

I get to alternate .. I teach from home twice a week and today is one of those days ... lol ... which is lucky for me.

If more of my students wanted to come back I'd be there everyday but I only have 5 kids who came back ... everyone else is still online.

Just dudes out for me.

Check around small clearings in the woods- they like to swarm to those areas to mate. Also, if you want to take my approach, you can go out to a colony that's releasing females and grab a few dozen of them and toss em into a talc-lined tupperware container or critter-keeper and let the males do their work.

Double post. Refreshed the page to post it again thinking that it would stop the whole process of posting but it didn't.

You guys are lucky. I have found one queen here in MI. I'll have to try to get out when they are actually flying.
