1. Location of collection:  Phelan, California.
2. Date of collection:  3-29-2014.
3. Habitat of collection:  High desert scrub.
4. Length (from head to gaster):  4mm to 4.5mm.
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture:  Ferruginous head and thorax, black gaster.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Third and fourth tergum has no pubescence at all.
7. Anything else distinctive:

I went through the key a few times and end up nowhere but Myrmecocystus intonsus (http://www.antwiki.o...cystus_intonsus). AntWiki says this species has only been collected a few times.
