Location: Pensacola, Florida

Rain: This morning

 

This is a parasitic Nylanderia queen, and she is less than 2mm in length. I am not sure of the species, it might even be an undescribed one.

WOW!!! Never even knew that Nylanderia social parasites existed! Does this particular species use permanent or temporary social parasitism when founding colonies?

Although I do not know her species, I assume she may be one of those permanent inquilines because of how insanely tiny she is.

Have kept many other ant species but now keep over 100 tarantulas and other inverts! Mantids, centipedes, and scorpions to name a few 😁

Pogonomyrmex barbatus, Pogonomyrmex rogusus, Tetramorium sp.e, Brachymyrmex sp., Solenopsis xyloni, Crematogaster cf. cerasi and Camponotus fragilis flew in Globe, Arizona last night. I saw them while staying there on vacation.
