Location:  Trabuco Canyon, Cleveland National Forest, Orange County, California.
Habitat:  Next to a small creek in an oak forest.
Coloration, hue and pattern:  Black head, red thorax, black gaster.
Length:  6mm.
Distinguishing characteristics:  Fairly shiny.
