Location:  Santa Ana, Orange County, California.
Habitat:  Semi-urban area/Dirty, unkept area along the Santa Ana River bike trail with random plants and irrigation.
Coloration, hue and pattern:  Red head, red thorax, black abdomen.
Length:  3-4 mm.
Nest was a typical looking ant hill about 10mm in diameter.
