Location (on a map) of collection: Found on a side trail from Chaney trail leading to Mt Lowe Rd
Date of collection: June 2, 2018
Habitat of collection: Dirt trail surrounded by bushes
Length (from head to gaster): 9mm
Color, hue, pattern and texture: Light brown colored with black markings on it's thorax
Nuptial flight time and date: 10:00 PM
Found digging it's founding chamber

Possibly Myrmecocystus wheeleri.

Great find. Chaney Trail in Altadena has such a wonderful variety of ants. My local goto spot.

I have never heard of M. wheeleri, but seems like a good species to keep.
