I found four Prenolepis imparis queens today,my first queens of the year! I put one of the queens with my largest Prenolepis imparis colony she has been accepted by the workers and is now chilling with the original queen. The other three queens are in a test tube together.

Wow, giant gap in the dates from last post and the most recent post…

Currently keeping:

1x Formica subsericea, 35-40 workers +  BIG brood pile + 10 pupa.

1x Crematogaster cerasi, 1 workers + finally some bigger brood (The worker that was dying died )

1x Myrmica ruba sp around 10 workers

*New* 1x  founding Camponotus pennsylvanicus + eggs that die (probably infertile)

*New* 2x Camponotus nova, one is infertile

*As you watch your ants march, remember that every thing begins with a small step and continued by diligence and shared dreams*

The first Prenolepis imparis alates I've found this year flew in my area today. I caught 2 queens, hopefully with the warmer weather coming they'll fly in more substantial numbers.

Turns out I haven't been catching P. imparis and instead it's been Lasius Aphidicola! I couldn't understand why they were dying; I saw and caught many yesterday as well as my last post on the 30th (I was surprised by the long flight duration). To be honest, I just want those fully claustral queens

Also, I saw you wanted to try your hand at raising them so maybe we could trade! I have about 5 Lasius Aphidicola. I don't want to kill them since I'm not interested in parasitic species.

Unfortunately I can't trade right now as I am out of the country. However Camponotus flights should start soon, hopefully you'll have more luck with them!

I am in fact hoping to snag some Camponotus and parasitic lasius. I’ll linger on this thread for a bit waiting for reports about Camponotus to emerge

Camponotus Sp. Caught today if I recall correctly it looks like Camponotus herculeanus. I think you would be happy to hear about that OwlThatLikesAnts

EDIT : ID'd as Camponotus novaeboracensis

Yessss! Now I’ll just have to watch local colonies like a hawk. Though I am not that sure I’ll catch a Camponotus queen because I have only seen one Camponotus queen in my life  :/
