I'm pretty sure this is Camponotus fragilis.

What other Camponotus flies this late? Beautifully light colored. How many dealates did you catch?

The date of collection was 8-3-2014; that's not very late in the year. A fertile Camponotus queen that I DID find this late in the year was C. yogi, out in Trabuco Canyon.

BTW, this could be C. absquatulator, but the C. fragilis description seems to fit better.

Such a pale Camponotus... The color makes me want to scream Camponotus absquatulator though.

A fertile Camponotus queen that I DID find this late in the year was C. yogi, out in Trabuco Canyon.

 

I wish I has an equivalent of Trabuco Canyon up here in Simi Valley... Ventura county is probably the hardest hit by the drought... NOTHING is flying locally up here in the wild. Even the hardy Pogonomyrmex colonies are dying out from dehydration. All the creeks up here have been dry for well over a year...

It's dry like that everywhere in Southern California, including Trabuco Canyon. BTW, C. absquatulator I think has slightly less hair on the thorax.
