Was told it's Camponotus quercicola. Feel free to give a second opinion :)

Does it have hair on the abdomen ?

At first view, I thought it was Camponotus laevigatus but it does'nt seem shiny enough.

I can't see on the photos but, is it entirely black ?

Definitely not Camponotus laevigatus. I'm 99% sure these (I found 4 in the same place tonight) are C. quercicola.

It is C. quercicola for sure. Note the nearly hairless head.

And yes, he was super lucky! I was there with him when he found it.

I found these last night and came again and met up with Soulsynapse. When I checked their abdomen on the first night after bringing them home, the hair is golden. Laevigatus hair is white. This is C. quercicola for sure.

My dad and I went to the same exact place at around 10:30 PM and we found one C. Querciciola with wings on it. She was walking on an oak tree. We also found a few other species.
