I made an ant nest using perfect cast, and want your guys’s thoughts.

Nice! What kind of ant species are you planning to keep in it? I think it would work great for camponotus.

It looks great, but is there anyway the ants could get drinking water in the nest?


 

And many Carnivorous plants such as: Dionea (fly trap), Sarracenia (American Pitcher plant), Nepenthese (Tropical Pitcher plant), Drosera, (sundew) and Pinguicula (Butterwort) (show off your plants here)

Nice! What kind of ant species are you planning to keep in it? I think it would work great for camponotus.


I made it for small-medium species in mind, the nest is not really that deep. I’m making another one for big species, like camponotus.

I’m planning on housing T. bicarinatum in that nest

Direct drinking water, no. The plaster walls will soak in the water from the sponges, and the ants will get their moisture from that. The water could also condensate on the glass, and they could drink from that.

Top surface looks rough. Ants might slip out under the glass due to irregularities in the surface. I recommend sealing the glass with silicone, not only magnets.

You can also go to your local hardware store, as they always have silicone on hand. Personally I go to Menards as they are the most affordable.
