Amazing.

Would you be able to tell me where you most likely found all of these?

Aphaenogaster sp.
Brachymyrmex obscurior
Brachymyrmex patagonicus
Camponotus floridanus
Camponotus obliquus
Camponotus tortuganus
Crematogaster ashmeadi
Dorymyrmex bureni
Forelius pruinosus
Monomorium floricola
Prenolepis imparis

Pseudomyrmex gracilis
Solenopsis geminata
Solenopsis invicta
Solenopsis pergandei
Tetramorium bicarinatum

My backyard, essentially, which would be Longwood, Florida.

That is quite a bit of diversity for a single backyard.  Are you referring to an entire neighborhood?

Not all of those species live in my yard, it's about 3/4 of that list, although I could probably triple the size of it if I were to include all the species I've found in it. Alates/delates of all of those ants (and more) have been found there save for the Forelius.

Wow!  You are lucky to have such a large ant fauna.  I've only ever found four species in my backyard.  :(

Thanks.

I'm going to Silverado Canyon this weekend (hopefully), so I'll see if there are any more ants with alates. I'm pretty sure I'll be seeing Forelius pruinosus/mccooki with alates. They seem to get alates about this time of year from what I recall.

I won't go there anymore unless the road is open at the trail head. Too many houses around with grumpy old people who seem to hate their lives. You can't even park at that trail head after dark, likely due solely to one specific lady out there who can out-exagerate anybody.

I'm not sure if it has been said in this thread, but I think the mating chart should be a gradient chart. It would make mating chart much more accurate and arguably interesting to see.  :)

Exactly. When I'm finished getting this database built, it's going to be that and a whole lot more.

Despite the torrential rains yesterday and this month (Close to 16"! We average 3" in May and 32" in the whole year...), I saw yet another Solenopsis invicta flight. I'm trying to find out when the many species (20-25 ish if I remember right?) at or near my house fly, but I can't seem to find any queens. They seem not to like how spongy the ground is from all the rain...

Trachymyrmex septentrionalis flew within the last couple days, lots of queens are out and about foraging to provide for their incipient fungus gardens.

Native fire ants (not sure of species) flew again today, along with RIFA. Again, Austin. Around 85° and quite humid (~85%)

The following flew around Mt. Baldy last night. Temps were around 65F, with no recent rain.

Solenopsis xyloni

Liometopum occidentale

Camponotus vicinus

Camponotus hyatti

Myrmecocystus mimicus flew in Mt. Baldy two weeks ago, shortly after it rained. I know this because I found one in a founding chamber I spotted in a tiny patch of dirt next to the creek. This founding chamber was clearly excavated while the dirt was wet based on the large, fragile chunks of dirt. It was also untouched, therefor it could not have been there before they received their last rain two weeks ago.

Edit: I keyed the Myrmecocystus out to M. mimicus. That's the first time I've ever caught one of them, and I never thought it would be in Mt. Baldy of all places.

I keyed the Camponotus (Myrmentoma) out to C. hyatti.

Usually not 100% of the time they won't have wings, usually they will be walking/running around without wings, those are the gals you want, get more then you'd think you need.
