Not very good pictures today, but I don't want to bother the queen too much. She has around 45-ish brood pieces, but apparently she's gonna eat a lot of them :(

On the other hand... LARVAE. She has ~4 ish small larvae from when I checked in the morning

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Nice! Do you know if that is sanguinea or rufa group?

The host workers are rufa group F. integroides. I keyed workers from where I caught the queen and they come out to sanguinea group F. aserva

Ah, OK, I was wondering about that, the workers looked considerably different. The queen looks very similar to the sanguinea group Formica I see in the Eastern Sierras.
