I read a paper that stated C. wettereri had been found in the US, but the only specimen collect was collect on a South American island. Has anyone seen them in the US or know anything about them being in the US?

That species doesn’t appear to even exist. I just looked it up and found nothing.
I managed to find something the only reference to it on the internet. Not a valid taxon name.

The link, unfortunately, has no specimen but "Specimen:casent0914432 is not in the AntWeb database."

There is a specimen of something though under a different name.

Yes this is a necro-post, but I figured out where they are in the US. They were collect on one of the Channel Islands.

Turns out Mackay ,the person who found them, was being typical Mackay and it turned out to just be Camponotus maritimus.
