Need some help convincing this guy that he has formica neorufibarbis and that parasites don't lay eggs without hosts:

No use trying to make him see the truth. Let him figure it out for himself. And besides. If it lays eggs, everything will be fine. And I think this should be in off-topic.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

I hate the people who just stick to their opinion so much that they won’t see it any other way.

It would also be wise to inform him that Formica rufa is a protected species in much of the EU. He could get in legal trouble if he gets caught with an F. rufa queen.

If he doesn't want to see your side of the argument, no need to try and force him to. If you're right, his queen dies, and he should learn. If he just doesn't want to learn/admit mistakes, he won't get very far in this hobby and drop out like so many others. But from his tone it just seems like he's a new antkeeper without much knowledge. Formica rufa is most likely the best known Formica sp out there, and its understandable why he could do a simple search and get the wrong results/be told the wrong answer by other inexperienced people. Simply continue to explain your argument and give him more evidence instead of calling him out and trying to peer pressure him to comply.
