Actually, you can't. As far as I know, S. invicta illegal to even touch in California, so...

Welcome to California.... The state of micro-managers...

Yes, from what I understand it is illegal to do anything except kill invicta. Kind of ridiculous, considering it's impossible to enforce, but still, because California.....

Also, you won't find many small Solenopsis colonies unless they are invicta(since they fly year round), as other species finished their flights long ago, and so would have large colonies, unless they are in my care of course, where they will do absolutely nothing except die.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

o. so does feeding alates to ants and mantis count as killing them?

The only species you can legally ship in California is Solenopsis Xyloni.

Can we all agree that you can’t buy anything but a piece of wood in Cali without being taken to jail. I mean even that piece of wood that grew in your back yard for decades is illegal.

Xyloni barely flew this year in Cali, so chances are you’ll have to wait.

they don't allow shipping pogonomyrmex around even though that's like the main state that pogonomyrmex occidentalis are in.

We don’t talk about that

that's so true. You need a permit for some reason to actually ship Pogonomyrmex occi into cali
