Hi ant lovers!

I have around 20 of Messor capitatus and around 10 Crematogaster scutellaris gynes that I am willing to sell.
I live in Croatia, Europe and I'm willing to ship to countries where import of ant queens is legal.
All queens have been collected locally after nuptial flights this year.
They will start laying eggs after hibernation, so no brood yet.

Any questions, ask away!
Cheers!

Hi,
I was looking for a Messor Capitatus to buy and Google showed me your post... Are they still available?
I'd like to know the price for a Messor Capitatus queen (I'm not interested in Crematogaster)..I'm in Italy and could pay by Paypal.
Please, let me know!

Thanks

Elena

I've just received my Messor Capitats queen in perfect conditions! Thank you very much (and thanks for the excellent packaging that made her survive the Italian mail)

What would be a good temperature to hibernate them at? Same as other mediterranean ants? 15? 20?

How cold does it get in Croatia in the winter months?

Resources around the Internet suggest 6 weeks at 15 C, and I tend to agree; (Except that I'd hibernate them for 2-3 months)

They were caught at Adriatic coast where I live. Winter temperature during the day peaks at around 15 C and get down to around 5 C at night.

I guess the ants dig deep to hibernate, where is a constant 15 C throughout the winter. A lot of sun too, so the soil gets warmed up during the day.

November, December, January and February are cold months here, especially Jan & Feb.

Hope this info helps

All of the M. capitatus have been sold. Thank you all!

I still have a couple of the red-headed C. scutellaris queens, if anybody's interested :)
