Mine came yesterday. It is perfectly sized for maybe 50 percent of the ant colonies one might have; an additional 30 percent would live comfortably inside the larger version. The ants haven't moved in yet, but I think they will once they realize it's about ten degrees warmer than their current home. My only issue so far is that the syringe doesn't hold enough water to make it faster or more convenient than just lifting the nest and pouring water into the tray.

Has anyone put leaf cutter ants in one of the larger ones? I wonder if they would get humid enough.

I think leaf cutter ants need a special formicarium, with really big chambers. I know AntStore sells some leaf cutter setups, but they don't ship a lot of their larger products out of Germany. You could at least get a general idea, though.

They do in fact ship the leaf cutter ant setups out of Germany.

Oh I know. Just not the biggest fan of the large clear box. Trying to find and or make one a little more "natural" like

I think it needs to be a large box of some kind, though.

The syringe is mostly for people who want to avoid any disturbance while watering. I've found this is only useful for particularly sensitive colonies and otherwise you are right, lifting the nest is way easier.

I can't recommend these nests for any kind of leaf-cutting species.

I noticed the smallest, founding, size is no longer offered in v2. What is the reason for ditching it? Personally would love to get one, even if it's v1.

I think when I get another colony, or one of the ones I own need more nesting space. I will totally purchase one of these! They look amazing, question though, do you have any places where they sell based from the U.S? All I have seen them being sold on is Ant Keeping Depot, and as they are in Australia and COVID-19 is slowing shipments.
My Ants:
(x1) Campontous semitstaceus ~20 workers, 1 Queen
(x1) Camponotus vicinus ~10 workers, 1 Queen (all black variety)
(x1) Tetramorium immigrans ~100 workers, 1 Queen
(x1) Myrmercocystus mexicanus -1 Queen
(x2) Mymercocystus mimcus -1 Queen
(x1) Mymercocystus testaceus ~45 workers, 1 Queen

Messaged ya Shocko ;)

@Techant- I feel your COVID pain! Unfortunately AKD is my main stockist. The Ant Collective in Canada were sticking them for a while, though I'm not sure if they have any left.

Thanks for the support!
