Looked last night and this morning. Found a bunch of nests but no queens or alates. Going to a creek here soon. Hopefully find something.

I wish I had good news. I found nothing. Walked around my neighborhood and left lights on at night in hopes of attracting some. Still nothing for me.

Haven’t seen anything either. I’m wondering if Camponotus didn’t fly super early like the did last year. I don’t actually need any more queens at the moment, but hopefully everyone gets their chance this year.

My friends in Kentucky reported they flew early but what makes me wonder is if the queen I caught was late or early (the one with wings). Let's see how june is if we still witness a flight or not

I found these but I am not sure these are drones or not. They were found last night at my light outside my house. https://imgur.com/ga...allery/FUwHkrX

I'm not from Missouri (sorry to bud in) but it looks like it has elbowed antennae so it could be a queen.

I'm here to learn, mostly.

I found a dead Camponotus male at work today. Based on where it was it had to have flown in during the last day or two. Flights are probably happening or right around the corner.

Last year it was late June and early July. If you’re in St. Louis you’ll be seeing T. tsushimae. Outside St. Louis it’ll be T. immigrans.

Acorn ants (Temnothorax curvispinosus) are flying. Just saw a queen scurrying about at work. I already have two colonies, but I recommend them to anyone hunting. They're easy to keep, they grow fast, they're a beautiful orange color, and they ferocious eaters. They usually fly in the afternoons. If it's like last year, they'll be flying almost every day for a week or two.

Wow just looked them up and they look awesome!  Any idea where the best place to look would be (i.e. a park, neighborhood, backyard, etc)?

I caught probably a dozen of them one night around my porch light. They seem to fly in the late afternoon or early evening and keep at it through a good portion of the night. I also caught a good number of wingless ones on the sidewalk in the early mornings, probably after all the previous nights flights were over.
