1. Location (on a map) of collection: Townsville, North Queensland, Australia 
2. Date of collection: 8 March 2018
3. Habitat of collection: Residential area, dry tropics 
4. Length (from head to gaster): 10mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Stripes on gaster 
6. Distinguishing characteristics: not sure
7. Distinguishing behavior: Very active, picks up her eggs and runs around madly when disturbed
8. Nest description: Unsure 

9. Nuptial flight time and date: 8 March

Maybe a Stigmacros?

 

they usually have bumps on the rear mid torso

1) Opisthopsis Rufithorax (strobe ant), Melophorus sp2. black and orange, Pheidole species, Pheidole antipodum

Maybe a Stigmacros?

 

they usually have bumps on the rear mid torso

 

 

10 millimeters though, Stigmacros queens are much smaller than that.

It could possibly be Prolasius.

Myrmecocystus mexicanus are not found in Australia if that's what you're getting at.

Not found in Australia either.  I'd go with Iridomyrmex
