really is it non tropical

 

Yep... this species can even survive being frozen solid in winter.

 

 

I've kept gray treefrogs for almost 8 years now. Really great pets. IMO a water bowl isn't really necessary, it'll just serve as a breeding ground for disease that you have to clean constantly. I haven't used a water bowl for 4 years. As long as the frog isn't burying itself in the substrate it's sufficiently hydrated. Grays seem to tolerate dryer conditions than most amphibians, they spend a lot of time sitting on dry branches and buildings far from water.
