My p.imparis have just been pulled out of hibernation and have been rejecting sugary foods even though they have protein filled repleats. So I gave them a wax worm and came back a hour later and they had swarmed it, so if you have a colony of these girls maybe offer them a wax worm!

(Most of them ran because my camera hit the outside of their outworld)

I actually fed my queen before she layed her eggs, how long have you been waiting? My queen took about two weeks

It's been nearly three weeks since I caught the queens and last Saturday none had eggs. They've all removed their wings and settled into the test tube setups. We check them on Saturdays, hopefully we'll find something this week!

Has anyone tried mealworms with them?

I will as soon as I get workers!

Got a little excited and checked my ants today... All three Prenolepis queens have one egg! So Excited!

What is the typical amount of time it takes for an egg to become a larva and eventually eclose?

No action in MA since 2 feet of snow aren't exactly ideal conditions for ants. Hope it warms soon.

My p.imparis have just been pulled out of hibernation and have been rejecting sugary foods...

I noticed you have a byFormica liquid feeder, filled with something red. Have you tried Sunburst Ant Nectar, or are you using something else?

I'm using sunburst and humming bird nectar, they have started accepting both of them again. (I'm very happy with the sunburst ant nectar, it's a great product!)

I'd like to chime in on this, I caught 12 P. Imparis queens in about 2 hours on February 24th in Northwest Ohio.

Prenolepis imparis nuptial females

As of today at least 8 of them have laid eggs, one of wich still has its wings. I was hoping to collect more today as we hit low 70's but I was unable find any.

Here is a photo of where they sit today.

I'm not quite sure, I am aware that Prenolepis can have polygynous colonies but I am not sure how to introduce the queens to each other. I'd recommend digging into some research.

Congrats on another catch!

Still waiting for some queens to show up here....

Actually they are pleometrophic and eventually kill each other

Long time no see :D

Has anyone had success finding Prenolepis Imparis in Arkansas? It seems like the perfect weather for them here, but I still haven't had any luck.
