I'm just getting started in ant keeping, and I'm looking to buy some starting formicarium and queens. Any advice would also be welcome for a new ant keeper. Thanks!

Hi! I'm happy to see a new face around here. I highly recommend you buy from http://117colonies.com for acrylic formicariums, he's actually a user on here. His name is Loops. If you want a grout formicarium, you would want to go to http://tarheelants.com

Welcome to formiculture. As for getting a colony, where do you live? You can look on gan and see if there is any ant keepers near you selling colonies or queens.. I recommend any of the following places to buy formicariaums from.

117 colonies

Thanks, I looked on GAN and there are no ant keepers close by to me sadly.

Hmmm... unfortunate, I assume you live in the U.S.... what state? You could always try postng here to see if there is any ant keepers within your state that would sell.

There is Californians on Gan. I assume they juat aren't close enough to you that you would want to drive that far? I know it doesn't allow you to "ship" them, even though it is legal. Anting season is just beginning in that area. Make a post here and see if anyone has a colony they will send to you. Dsprdrew may have a colony he would sell you if he has any? You would have to ask.
