I caught a Solenopsis spp. (Most likely S.geminata) Queen in October, then another one in early December. The second queen I caught laid eggs, and got her nanitics in January, whereas the first queen lost her first clutch of eggs to mold. I kept her alive and introduced her to Queen#2's colony (approx. 9 workers) on February-13, 2017. A few days later, and the colony has accepted the queen and she even laid a batch of eggs!

Currently both queens are alive and healthy, and are kept in a darkened test-tube setup attached to a mini-outworld made out of a small plastic box lined with Vaseline as a barrier.

Here are some pics of the colony:

That's pretty cool. I am sure that there are many polygene S.geminata and S.invicta.

The AC Solenopsis colonies always had/have only one queen. And they don't need more, a single fire ant queen can lay up to 11000 eggs per week. Probably even Mikey couldn't deal with a colony growing twice or even three times that fast.

We should respect all forms of consciousness. The body is just a vessel, a mere hull.

Hm, thought he had multiple queens, but guess not. Looking at his videos again, it was actually alates the colony was producing and not actual queens, so I was mistaken.
