I have a very important question for our non-US ant lovers: how big are your holes?

I'm developing a liquid feeder and other products that work by plugging into existing holes in foraging areas.  In order to finish it, I need to ensure regional compatibility by understanding what common hole sizes exist outside the United States in places like the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and elsewhere.

Please post here the size of your ant holes or tubing.  Photos of your holes will also greatly help me to develop a product that works with all the different ways you customize your holes (eg. substrate or gypsum stone at the hole entrance).

Let's work together and make this upcoming product line a hole in one!

I guess I could tell you a little about my hole. I have a standard when making anything that uses my c-clip connectors. All mine are exactly 16 mm in diameter.

I'm unfamiliar with the common hole sizes in Australia. I have no holes. :(

I don't even know a fellow aussie personally who has an ant farm.

I am armed with 22mm test tubes but only because I was delusional into thinking I was going to find the ant I wanted, when I wanted it.

Otherwise I would've gone smaller.

Most of the world uses the metric system, except one hold out that insists on using English standard. Keep the faith Terry. You will eventually get all the information about holes that you need. This thread sounds so wrong.

Browsing a few of the european websites and having a look at formicariums/nests that they sell it seems that they use various sizes, from 4 mm up to 18 mm. It seemed that 12 mm was the most common, which makes sense, 12 mm would be interchangable with 1/2". Of course it would be easier, and more accurate, if some european hobbyists would chime in and give more accurate insight into what tubing sizes are most commonly used.
