Ok, I blame this on Nurbs but he gave me the great idea of trying a polygynous setup with my c. vicinus that I collected near Yosemite on 5/2/17. I have 6 black and 3 red/black housed together in a AntsCanada jumbo formicarium. They are all currently in the outworld portion and I blocked off the entrance to the formicarium portion just to force them to socialize with each other for the time being. There hasn't been any fighting yet. So far so good. Let's see what happens in a few months!

Oh wow cool! So I should close up the tubes once they found their partners?

Yup, I waited overnight and if they were still together, took out the test tube, closed it up, and put in a fresh new tube with two new queens.

Just today, I found four black ones that settled well together in one tube. Pretty cool. Excited to see how well (or poorly) they do in a year.

Wow, I wish I knew this sooner. Most of all my vicinus have laid eggs already. They're not too receptive to any new queens in their tube with their newly laid brood.

Yeah, they won't be. Just find more when its warmer. It's not like you have a lot or anything.
