Should me and my friend use sanded grout or unsanded? We don't know if this will impact anything on the Nesting space for the ants. We don't think it will but just to sure. Any other suggestions are welcome!

Personaly I prefer un-sanded so much. BUT, they both have there benefits! There are more advanced members then I that should explain the benefits!
