1. Location of collection: Austin, Texas, on a sidewalk of a suburban apartment complex in north Austin.
2. Date of collection: April 12th 2016, after work around 5 pm.
3. Habitat of collection: Suburban sidewalk. There are a lot of live oak, red oak, Chinese elm, and grass lawns.
4. Length: 11-12 mm.
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: She's shiny and has a few fine hairs on her abdomen and legs. Lighter red and brown head and thorax with darker gaster.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: she's much more passive than my Solenopsis invicta and likes to bury her brood when disturbed by scents or jarring movements.
7. Anything else distinctive: cocooned pupae.
8. Nest description: Mated, wandering queen; now with 2 nanites
