I am soon hopefully setting up a 2.5 gallon tank with built in outworld for Solenopsis geminata. can't wait to get my hobby started

Welcome! I have no idea on you plans to have Solenopsis geminata in Minnesota but I hope it works out. I'm from South Dakota!

Awesome, the ant I'm getting is lucias neoniger instead. Would two Antscanada 3D lucias hybrid nests connected together be too much for them?

I think you mean Lasius.

 

It would all depend on the size of the colony.

Okay, I don't know when I should move my queen to the formicarium? My queen has like 5 workers

Move your queen into a formicarium when it has way more than 5, maybe when it has 50 or more?

Okay, I put her in a founding container with 2 inches of sand but she won't dig out her own chamber

I hope you mixed some clay dirt with that sand, or it will collapse once dry.

That's good. Sometimes it takes a few days for queens to start digging a nest in captivity.

Generally, when you move a colony into a new nest, the colony should fill at least 30% of it.  You can move and upgrade the ants later.

Solenopsis Invicta,  Solenopsis xyloni,  Brachymyrmex depilis/Sp,  Myrmecocystus Mimicus,  Pogonomyrmex barbatus,

Forelius pruinosus,  Camponotus sayi, Dorymyrmex insanus, crematogaster ashmeadi,
