It is the 4th here in Germany. Of course, it is no holiday for us. 

Sadly, I have a full time job, so I hope this counts, not sure I make it again tonight.

Shame, I hope formiculture returns to its former glory (probably before I joined)


Manica invidia (1 queen,  ~200 workers)

Manica invidia (1 colonies, 1 queens plus 3 workers)

Lasius niger (single queen, ~200 workers - naturalistic, predatory set-up)

Lasius americanus (1 colony, ~10 workers)

Tetramorium immigrans (3 colonies, 3 queens, ~ five workers each | 1 colony, 1 queen, ~1200 workers)

Formica aserva (aserva queen, ~15  â€‹Formica neorufibarbis workers)

The problem is that online forums are becoming an outdated form of communication. Ant keeping as a hobby also isn't exploding in popularity... quite the opposite, in fact.

that's kinda good cuz then the alates will be able to sucessfuly found colonies and not be completely picked off in some spots.

it is kind of unfortunate that the hobby is shrinking though
