Nice! Are you sure that the Tetramorium queen is T.sushimae?

I'm sure. We have tons of immigrans queens around here, and she is definitely smaller. She also does not cooperate with the immigrans queens (the immigrans queens cooperate with each other, even though it may be temporary).

Pokeweed deserves a better reputation as a native plant. Love this shot!

Looking at this thread makes me even more sad that I can basically only find Argentines here..and the only queen that I found that was not Argentine died, because of Argentines. But, there is always a next time! Amazing photos ponerinecat!

All I can say is look for cryptics. They are very good at not being killed by argentines.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Or buy some. California has tons of sellers, at least on Formiculture, that is.

I got a new camera lens recently, a Laowa 65mm Macro, and it's been working well, it's manual focus, but it's really easy to work with, I'll put a link to it on the bottom, here's a Cyphomyrmex weeleri worker carrying caterpillar frass:
