Back on 7-30-2022 my friend found one of these queens while we were out in Nipton, CA looking for Novomessor.

I traded some other queens for the Aphaenogaster megommata queen.

It started laying eggs about five days later.

The colony got a couple more workers and then just slowly died off.

I want this species so badly… they're gorgeous ants. Aiming to find some queens of this sp. next year, and if I do, I'll send one your way!

Wonder what caused the die off.
