Hi there guys! Just found out about this site and geez it’s extremely awesome :) I’m currently in remission for cancer so unfortunately for me I have to rest up for a good while but I don’t wanna watch tv or lay around. I heard about leaf cutter ants and they truly fascinate me. So I wanna just watch them build their fungus and grow! I live in So Cal so if anyone by any chance has a colony for sale please send me a dm or message here. I wanted to buy one via Ants Gear but it’s been a week that I haven’t received an email back so giving this a try! Thank you for your time if you are reading this.

Welcome to the forum, and may your health be healthy!

I assume this will be your first colony, so make sure you read up! There's a great beginners guide to antkeeping that Crystals made:
https://www.formicul...rs/#entry177954
Of course, a lot of this information won't apply to leafcutters. Soooooo...
CheetoLord02 has made a comprehensive guide to keeping leafcutters:
https://www.formicul...afcutter-ants™/

Best of luck to you!

This is an inspiring story. I’m glad to hear that you’re recovering. Anybody with HALF a heart should give you a Acromyrmex colony for free. I know I would if I could. Who is going to step up!?

It’s a story that’s with me for life brotha but I’ve always been taught that business is business and I wouldn’t take something for free. I want to pay for an ant colony because I can see how hard it is to keep these ants alive and striving!

Might be a bit pricey, but hope this helps: https://www.statesid...rmex-versicolor. The vendor's a great guy to deal with though.

Edit, here's another sight with them for sale: https://antgear.com/...or-leafcutters/. Even higher on the budget expenses, but on the plus side comes with multiple queens.
