I have a prenolepis queen i found in February currently housed in a natural formisquarium. The colony still only has eggs and the queen. The queen is very calm and barely cares when i expose the formisquarium to light which seems abnormal to what I usually hear about imparis. Does founding usually take this long or is there something wrong?

She is unfortunately likely infertile.

I forgot to add this but she is definitely mated as i caught her from a massive flight happening in my yard and she still had some males on her when she was caught.

They just take very long to found. One of my queens from March only had eggs, which she ate later on. She’s also most likely mated. I would probably recommend a test tube setup for these.

Yeah put her in a tube lmao, that nest is WAY too big for a solo founding queen.
