Yes, there is PaigeX, Lilyrose, futurebird, Crystals (a moderator) and some others. You can search for a member's gender on the 'More Search Options' on the Members section. According to the members section on the forum and some simple math, the ratio of male antkeepers to female antkeepers is 9:1 not including the members whose gender is other or not telling.

Began antkeeping in 2018  :)

Man, I wonder why? I mean obviously some girls think "bugs" are gross, but still.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?

There are so many fascinating ants right were you live!

I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that are not found in your area.

Mercutia was another girl ant-keeper and was a moderator here for a long time too. There's PogoQueen too. Even though she hardly ever comes on the forum, we go anting together at some point throughout the season every year.

There's actually quite a few girls in this hobby.

Oh, ok. Maybe there are just less girls that are on online forums, and that's why SYUTEO got a 9:1 ratio?

As a guy realistically it's probably just a stigma against ant keeping and especially girl ant keepers. plus many of us had at least some interest in ants or bugs before we got into ant keeping and theirs probably a lot of people especially girls who get shamed out of those interests before they realize their love for ants. or maybe theirs a lot that do but don't wanna start a colony because they might get embarassed. that's my best guess but IDk, it is a shame their aren't more ant keepers, especially girls.

Most ladies that keep arthropods are into isopods, mantises, or maybe spiders. I think most women have an inborn aversion to teeming, creeping things like ants.

The reason why there aren't many female keepers is the same reason why there are more male scientists, professors, engineers etc. than female ones. The biology of the genders is different, the brains have different structures on average etc. You can look up neurophysiological maps of brain in males vs females - those are two different brains.

This just sounds like an ambiguous sexist remark against women. Just because some studies will show certain brain activity in women versus men does not mean there are defined interests between sexes. Correlation does not imply causation. It all depends on one's upbringing and how personal interests develop.

Yeah that's a little sexist. As drew said, its more due to women having a natural aversion to creepy crawlies.

Oh here it is, the word "sexism" appeared...

I said that AVERAGE female brain is pretty different from AVERAGE male brain, this is what studies propose.  We don't discuss any particular individual woman here.

But individual genetical variations can overcome such average differences, that's why some women become engineers, doctors, and antkeepers as well. There's no contradiction. Just like most (average) people are not geniuses, there is a minority that are.

Indeed! Natural aversion comes from brain differences, that's what I was talking about

If you want to approach this, you can at least do it in a more mature manner rather than being passive aggressive and sarcastic; I did read what you had written.

You are objectively wrong to simplify it all down to that. Provide your peer reviewed articles that would support your claims, please.  Reputable psychology and neuroscience courses and materials have concluded that we are not at a place to be able to boil brain activity down to simple black and white dichotomies as you are proposing. As I stated before, correlation does not imply causation.
