Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

‘Tetramorium caespitum’ in ‘North America’ needs to be changed to ‘Tetramorium immigrans’.

I don’t know why I’ve never used this thread before, but here:

Pheidole tysoni
Location: Jasper, Indiana
Date: 6/29/2020
Time: 6:00 A.M. (right as the sun was rising)
Humidity: 96-98%
Temperature: 71 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind: 0-1 mph
Rain: Two days prior, 1 inch
Method: Using a blacklight
Found: 2 winged alates

Side Notes: I think I missed the first part of their nuptial flight, so it probably started around 5:40-ish.

How could you tell it's speculiventris? I thought they were nearly impossible to tell from aphidicola

I did too. A keeper in Maine found 18 queens, and I went out and found four. I was mistaken that speculiventris queens fly at the same time as aphidicola. These speculiventris are slightly smaller and always have lighter colors, and have actual flights in June/July from what I can see.
