Nice! Congrats on finding the queen.

Keep the queen hot (90-95F). I kept mine in garage for the past three weeks and there are already pupa. ;)

Edit: By the way, is that honey in the test tube?

I wonder if my ants would do better if kept in a closet.  I keep them in my living room so I see them every day, worried I'll forget to take care of them if i don't see them every day.

Just put a shade over their chambers. The out world should be in the light.

I've been wondering about how to do that and thinking maybe I'll cut up a cardboard box into pieces the same size as the nest and just put it up against it.  Do you think that'll be sufficient?

I would be very careful about leaving honey droplet in case any eggs or larvae may get stuck in the test tube. I leave nothing in the test tube and only place small pieces of seeds once larvae appear. Here is my queen with already 4 pupa where queen was collected 3 weeks ago.

Congrats! They might fly again on favorable weather but the quantity will likely be lesser.
