Hi! I caught a Myrmecia pilosula queen today. I put her in a test tube setup before realizing tha half on one of her back lag was missing. She can walk well enough and seems to be alright, but do you think such a would cound impact such a predatory species? She drank some water and honey, but isn't moving around much. I don't think other species would have trouble with an injury like this, but do you think a semi claustral species could make it? Thanks.

It remains to be seen in the future, but if it appears otherwise healthy there should be a good chance. Pilosula is one of the quickest growing bull ants so it shouldn't take too long for workers if she is indeed fertile

Under the assumption that she is healthy, eggs should take up to 2 weeks to hatch once they have been laid, if you powerfeed the larvae it should take a couple weeks for them to get to max size and a couple more weeks for the pupae to develop. All of this varies on the temperature and amount u feed them. Also if u haven't done so already, I would recommend doing a tubs and tube setup as bull ants tend to do better in those.

She's laid a few eggs, and is eating well. She seems healthy.

Yes, I'll try to get some. I heard they shouldn't be disturbed often. The queen is still laying eggs, she's got about ten now.

Well, I got some very bad pictures. The queen was not happy.
