1. Location (on a map) of collection: the maroon bells
2. Date of collection: 8/9/21
3. Habitat of collection: foresty area
4. Length (from head to gaster):7-8 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: thorax and head are a red while the gaster is a velvety red
6. Distinguishing characteristics: coloration
7. Distinguishing behavior:when disturbed gets very agitated
8. Nest description: I've foudn this sp nestingg in logs, under logs, and under rocks, no mound just a nickel sized hole in the ground usually.

9. Nuptial flight time and date:i found these queens from 10-11 AM MT

no they abduct brood of their host sp and care for it so the only thing they have to do is raid for more brood sadly on my way back home to arvada they overheated while they went inside a restraunt to get food so did the myrmica and all the ants i didn't catch yesterday, but at least i got one or 2 formica queens and leptothorax queen and Pogonomyrmex queens like 15 of them

You are thinking of Dracula ants, or Stigmatomma.

these are called slave making ants. Very different from dracula ants (genus stigmatomma)

Don't all amblyoponine ants do that, not just Stigmatomma?

Don't all amblyoponine ants do that, not just Stigmatomma?
yes, but stigmatomma are the only dracula ant genus native to North America.
