Me when Cheeto made my request of the Mini Formisquarium:   :yahoo:

Bought four of these, AMAZING PRODUCT, not saying that just because I was the concept creator.  They're the perfect size for:

Founding and small colonies of small ants (Tetramorium)

Founding queens of medium sized ants (Lasius)

Probably Myrmentoma founding queens, too.

My founding Aphaenogaster picea also like it

The only problems I have is that it takes a while for the plaster to soak up the water, but that's fine.  I've seen my Tetramorium poke their heads through the space between the cap and the container, but I'm not too concerned since if they could escape they probably would've.  The acrylic quality is pretty good, for a good bit I thought workers on the ceiling have escaped haha.

9999999/10, do reccomend

Your on a roll!

Also, "You're on a roll".  Wrong you're/your form, I'm sorry I had to

Hey Cheeto! Have you tried your Acromyrmex mix with your Atta? My (texana) take to a few different kinds of dried flowers and buying from you them instead of prepping them sounds ideal to me  :D I know you power-feed your Atta with fresh greens though!

Personally I have had limited success feeding dried plants to Atta, although every single component of the mix has been accepted by my Atta while fresh. You may be able to entice the Atta to accept them by squirting them with a spray bottle, as I know that trick has worked to get my Atta to accept some slightly withered/dried plants in the past. Especially if your colony has seemed to accept dried plants in the past, it may very well be worth a shot.

Hey are your nests safe to ship ants in. I plan on selling some ants but before I officially sell someone some ants I would like to get some nests which are sturdy and won’t break easy.

I would imagine they are, however I haven't personally tried it. As long as the nest is filled to a decent capacity, the relatively shallow chambers should be pretty good at preventing the ants from getting smacked around in shipping too much. The sand-coated base will also allow the ants to get a better grip which should help them not get thrown around as much in shipping, especially compared to a bare test tube.

How big is the water chamber on the extra large nest for Acromyrmex?

What are the full dimensions? L x W x H?

Thank you

The XL Formisquarium is 5 by 5.5 inches. The water chamber is roughly 1/4th inch tall, 1 inch deep, and 5.5 inches long.
