My heating wire slipped and ended up under the water tube .. all the ants are running away (duh) so I guess that's one way to get to see them lol.

My question is .. do I need to take the tube out and dry it? Maybe change the cotton? Or with the removal of the heat will it dry out and be ok after a little while?

The link is broken first of all, but I’d say yes, or else your ants may drown.

I fixed it .. you can't really see anything anyway though ..

They all left the tube so I'm not worried about them drowning. They have plenty of places to chill rather than go back in. My only thought is will it dry out again on its own? Or is it ruined once it does that and I need to take it out and redo it?

If they left the tube I’d change it so you don’t have to at a later date (if its an old tube)

So I went to check and it turns out it has only a single drop of water. I dried it.

Turned out the reason they all ran out was an attack by the queen colony. I had tried to merge the ones with a queen with the ones without a queen and it .. it backfired .. badly :-(
