Hi guys,
I have another species for you to identify. She looks like a camponotus but she is quite small, looks to be the size of a worker C.pennsylvanius only about 1cm long. She was found running around during the day at 5:00 pm in the south shore of Montreal.

I forgot to mention he thorax has a slight reddish hue that might not be prevalent in the photo.

Check out this list. To me, your queen looks most like Camponotus nearcticus.

Probably in the Myrmentoma subgenus. I think C. nearcticus is a good possibility.

I'm no expert but the gaster looks rather small. Maybe try feeding it?

Species I keep:

1 Lasius cf. Neoniger 30 workers

1 Camponotus sp. 15 workers

20 Tetramorium SpE 30 workers

1 T. Sessile 200 workers

I gave her some honey yesterday, she ate it immediately and was like entranced when she ate. I'll feed her again when I get home today, at work now. Thanks for the info!
