I'm looking to buy small colonies/single queens of almost any cryptic ant species. Beginner species are preferred, and I'll pay shipping (to Bay Area, CA)

I'm mostly looking for Hypoponera, but still contact (DM) me if you have other species for sale.

Thanks :)

I can basically give you pheidole queens to be honest, just follow my instructions. Go outside on a hot sunny day in June or July. Get your pool ready the night before with about a foot of water in it. Set it up under a garage light, shed light, anything that stays on during the night. Get up after it rains or it is hot the next day and you then have a week of nonstop pheidole flights mostly including bicanarata and tysoni but other bigger species you can find around two of in the pool. They have wings but don’t worry most pheidole I caught from a pool were all Mayer and removed their wings very soon. Give her some honey for her troubles and stick her away in a test tube set up for 2 weeks. Or check on her whenever these queens are basically worker ants bothered by nothing.

Really? It just rained where I am but it feels way too cold for anything. I'm guessing it's warmer where you are or do they fly when it's cold?

The isopods are doing great! they are adorable lol, and there are so many colors!
but i want them without workers because the queens are semi claustral so they would be foraging for food themselves which i think is cool :P

Workers forage too, and it's much safer to start with workers. Queens like to die if you don't make everything just right.

I heart Temnothorax too. Unfortunately small weird ants are hard to come by.

Novomessor cockerelli are fully claustral, but are able to forage to supplement their brood if needed, or if brood dies. I raised 20+ queens this year without feeding in founding and most got 3-5 nanitics no problem.

Saw some Hypo workers running around at surface level today, I can hopefully get a small colony for you and me soon. As for Temnothorax, those aren't out of my capabilities, but they're not exactly easy to come by either. I've only found 3 nests before, twice under small stones and once among a camponotus hyatti colony.

Next year I probably will sell Hypos. I had any idea to sell a complete care kit with a formicarium, queen, and springtail stater culture.
