Really excited to announce Camponotus vicinus is coming to Wilderness Anting! It has been years since South Dakota gave me another chance to keep Camponotus since my Camponotus novaeboracensis colony died. You may not be as enthusiastic as I am, but maybe you will be when they go for sale here in over a month!

Camponotus now in stock in South Dakota!

Wow, this has been a great start to the year! Four species of Camponotus are now available for purchase locally: Camponotus herculeanus, Camponotus modoc, Camponotus novaeboracensis, and Camponotus vicinus. I know, I don't have permits for nationwide shipping yet, but I am hopeful that the USDA can get those approved here soon. With the cuts happening in US government and the retirement of Carlos Blanco, though, things may be taking longer. Look out for a shop update video coming out soon! 1x Formica subsericea, 35-40 workers + maybe eggs

1x Crematogaster cerasi, only queen now, workers ded   :facepalm:*internal screaming*

1x Myrmica ruba sp around 10 workers + pupa

*New* 1x  founding Camponotus pennsylvanicus + eggs that die (probably infertile)

*New* 2x Camponotus nova, one is infertile

The Dakotas are pretty strict with invasive species because of the farming, which makes sense. You don't need permits to ship between Canadian provinces, a very lucky thing considering it takes months for permits to be approved in the US.

Can confirm they are in North Dakota. I live in ND and have a few Tetramorium immigrants colonies near me which I’ve uploaded on iNat, also found a queen of them.

I bought a Camponotus modoc queen from them a couple of months ago and she has been doing very well! She has about 11 nanitics right now with a bunch of small pupae!

I would definitely recommend buying from them especially if you’re from the Great Plains region.

I also appreciate that they have gone out of their way to message me and check in on the ants! I will definitely be buying another colony in the future!
