How long does a brand new queen/her colony last? Do different species live longer?

Depends on a variety of things; there is no specific answer.  The longest a queen has lived in captivity was about 28 years.

In short, for most species 5-15 years would be a pretty safe bet. Also, I had no idea an Aphaenogaster worker could live over three years..........
