I am waiting for my Palladium to arrive, and was wondering which way would be most effective to heat the ants. Do you think placing it under the nest would work, or is would there be too much type III material between my heat mat and the colony?

I’m heating my Nucleus by sticking a small heat pad on one side. It’s working well so far.

Although the water ports and nestmate are on the only side that I could heat it from..........

Edit: I guess I could remove the protruding structures while the heat mat is on, and remove the heat mat when they are necessary.

Looking at the photos, I’d say place half of the thing over a heat mat or a few loops of heat cable. The heat will radiate up through the material.

Ok, I'll just put it underneath, then. Thanks.  :)
